In 2001 an independent consultant and an MBA by training accepted a job as manager of an out-of-town multi-million business. He and his family decided to sell their home themselves (For Sale By Owner–FSBO) in order to save thousands of dollars in real estate commissions. He successfully sold their home and saved many thousands of dollars in real estate commissions. However, during the process he realized that no help was available locally, and that the only advertising in town he could afford were small “For Sale By Owner” ads placed in the Local Newspaper. TV was too expensive, eye-catching color photos were prohibitive in cost, and there was no local internet advertising.

The more he thought about the lack of help for people who wanted to sell their property FSBO, the more he realized the need for a local FSBO advertising firm. He discussed the development of a web-based advertising agency catering to our local community but with national exposure with a friend, who is a Ph.D. physicist and extremely knowledgeable in computer technology. They enlisted the help of another Ph.D. who happened to be an attorney.

These three spent the better part of a year developing concepts, writing business plans and feasibility studies, doing cost analysis studies, becoming very familiar with web-based FSBOs, writing computer programs, and writing step-by-step instructions and sample documents to assist potential home sellers and buyers in the process of selling their home themselves.

After months of refining ClarksvilleFSBO.com, they realized they had the best product on the market. They bought URLs, copyrighted their materials, trademarked their logos, and obtained a patent pending on their Virtual Tour. ClarksvilleFSBO.com was now ready to be introduced to the community, but needed market exposure. And they knew the man to do it.

A prominent local businessman and former manager of a family-owned multi-million dollar business was brought into the firm as President and CEO.  Meetings were held and a sufficient number of partners were found to provide the capital to grow YourCityFSBO.com (called ClarksvilleFSBO.com locally) and develop its full potential. The list of Contributing members reads like a who’s who of Clarksville and the surrounding area.

YourCityFSBO.com now employs a full-time web developer who keeps our web-based advertising firm on the cutting-edge of technology. We are the future and we will change the way real estate is sold in in this country.
